Short-term let licence fees by council
Every Scottish council sets its own short-term let licence fee, and they are not close to each other. One guide per licensing authority — the fee table, the documents, and how to find your own expiry date. 14 of 32 published, 13 of them in areas we currently work.

Why the council matters more than you would expect
The licence is the same legal animal everywhere. The price is not. A three-year renewal for a secondary let sleeping six costs £2,881 in Edinburgh and £433 in Glasgow — the same property, an hour apart down the M8. Some councils price on occupancy, some on bedrooms, and a few charge less to renew than to apply from scratch.
Which means a figure you read on a national site, or were quoted by someone who works in another council area, is likely to be wrong for you. Every fee on these pages was read from that council's own published schedule, and each page says when.
Finding your deadline
Every council publishes a public register of licensed short-term lets. Your entry is in it, and the guide for your council links straight to it. If the register does not show an expiry date — most do not — work from the grant date and add the licence period. What happens if you miss it is worth reading first.
